A Silurian mystery - Are all of the fossils broken?

Fragments of bryozoans, crinoids and brachiopods and a complete solitary coral

In this picture there are lots of fragments of broken bryozoans, crinoids, and brachiopods.

Look closely and see if you can identify them.

The cone-shaped solitary coral looks complete though.

Why are some of the fossils broken?

Did the animals live in the positions that we find them in now as fossils?
