Welcome to the Gallery
The Gallery is our online space for artwork inspired by objects in the Museum and its collections, particularly work produced during activities and events at the Museum. We welcome your feedback - please contact us with your comments or suggestions for exhibitions you'd like to see in this part of the website.
Collections, Catalogues and Creatures of Clay
Some very unusual and colourful specimens have been seen in the Museum recently. In fact, all are entirely new to science and unique to Cambridge. These stunning fossils were created during the Museum's Collections, Catalogues and Creatures of the Clay event. Children and adults looked at specimens in the Museum's collections and then created their own from clay, paint and glitter. Each creature was given a scientific name and catalogued. Fossils from the Wenlock Reef
This gallery provides a "sneak preview" of an exciting new online learning resource based on the Museum's collections. It features a selection of specially commissioned images of fossils from the 400 million year old Wenlock coral reef. The full resource will be available in Summer 2004, offering the opportunity to find out more about the biology, ecology and fossilization of the animals from this rich era in the history of the British Isles. The project has been funded by the Museums Libraries and Archive Council and complements the ongoing redevelopment of the Museum's exhibitions.

The Big Drawer 2003: A Life Box
Fossils, rocks and minerals help us to understand the history of the Earth, and everything we see around us today is part of the continuing story of our living planet. The storage drawers in the Sedgwick Museum are full of objects which tell us fantastic stories about the past. We asked young artists to choose and draw objects around the Museum to make their own collection.
In this exhibition you can see photos of most of the artwork produced - click an image to 'zoom in' and get a bigger picture (may take a minute or more to download, depending on your internet connection). Click the ticket to enter the gallery!
