NOTICE:Museum reopening on Monday 13th January 2014
Public holiday closures
The Museum will be closed on the following dates:
Christmas & New Year December 21st 20131pm and re-open on Monday January 13th 2014 at 10am as usual.
The Museum welcomes visits from organised groups, but these need to be booked at least one week in advance. Bookings can be made by telephoning the Museum on 01223 333456 or by emailing email@example.com.
Due to space considerations, the maximum group size in the Museum at any one time is 30. Larger groups can be accommodated over two or more sessions.
Many large groups choose to combine a visit to the Sedgwick Museum with visits to other nearby University Museums, such as the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, the Museum of Zoology or the Whipple Museum of the History of Science. Opening hours and group visiting policies vary, so please contact individual museums for specific details.
Groups of children under the age of 16 must be supervised at all times by an adult, with a ratio of 1 adult to each 10 children. If you are planning a school visit, please see the For Schools section of this web site for further information on services available and booking instructions.
Admission to the Museum is free, however a donation of £1 per person would be appreciated.
Location and Access
Travelling to Cambridge
Cambridge is easily accessed by road, and is just under 1 hour by train from London. Frequent coach services link the city with London, Oxford and towns across East Anglia.
Getting to the Museum
Once in the city, we encourage our visitors to make use of the Cambridge Park and Ride facilities. If you wish to park in town, Lion Yard is the closest car park to the Museum. Please be aware however that parking in Cambridge can cost up to £ 25 per day.
Free accessible parking is available for visitors with disabilities in the Department of Earth Sciences car park whose entrance is on Tennis Court Road. It is helpful if you are able to contact us prior to your visit to ensure that we can accommodate your request.Enlarge a map in a new window showing the location of Museum.
New! Explore the area around the Museum using Google Street View. The actual entrance to the Museum is through the archway (shown on Street View) and to the left.
Accessing the Museum
The Sedgwick Museum is housed in a beautiful building, but we appreciate that access to the museum is not easy for everyone. We are investigating ways in which we can improve access for our disabled visitors, but in the meantime the staff are always willing to help visitors with mobility difficulties. If you do have mobility difficulties, it is helpful if you are able to contact us in advance of your visit. We will be happy to make arrangements to accommodate you.
Full accessibility details for the Museum can be found on the University's online Access Guide.
